Silent Hill – Sony Playstation (1999)

Silent Hill is a survival horror game that was released exclusively for the PlayStation in 1999. Developed by Team Silent and published by Konami, it’s the first instalment in the Silent Hill series. The game uses a third-person view with real-time rendering of 3D environments. Players guide the protagonist, Harry Mason, as he searches for his missing adopted daughter in the eerie town of Silent Hill. He encounters a cult and uncovers the mysterious origins of his daughter. The game is known for its psychological horror elements, atmospheric setting, and five possible endings based on player actions, including one joke ending1. It’s considered a defining title in the survival horror genre, moving away from typical B movie horror elements towards a more psychological style, emphasizing atmosphere.

I purchased this copy of the game as an upgrade. This particular copy has quite a scratched disc so I will swap it out with the good condition loose copy I already have. This also came with the demo of Silent Hill that actually belongs to the Metal Gear Solid game for the Playstation, so it was a nice little bonus.
