So I had a little downtime recently (damn you Covid) and I was curious as to what my collection was worth if I was to sell it. Now there was no really easy way to price my collection, yeah I could look at eBay sold listings of every item I have but that would have taken far too long so that was a no go. I could use an app or an online tool for this, such as a collection tracker app / website, but I found that many tailor to the American market so the prices are very different to the prices over here in ol’ Blighty. So I eventually settled on using the High street game store ‘Cex’. Now Cex won’t take a lot of my collection because there are a good few consoles and its respective games that they do not carry or take in, but the ease of putting my collection into its website far outweighed the negatives for me. So armed with a barcode scanner borrowed from work I set about scanning.
As a lot of my collection is modded, I decided that I would not sell anything that is not easily un-moddable (is that a word??)
I will list my current collection and what Cex would give me cash vs gift voucher as of the end of November 2020.

Overall this has been an interesting project for me and I found it quite surprising how much it was worth. Now they don’t take in everything, a lot of the consoles and games I have are not sold By Cex, such as Game Boy Colour games, Atari 2600 console and games, ZX Spectrum, C64, Vectrex, Amstrad and Intellivision. Some are not that surprising really, given there age. Even with the systems they do take in, I found that a lot of the titles I have, did not appear on their website and as such they would not take in, surprisingly the most games not on their system was the Playstation 1 with a good 80% of titles not appearing.
If I have the time I’d like to do this every year to see how much my collection has grown, and also to see the value of my collection rise and fall.
