Darq: Ultimate Edition – Sony Playstation 5 (2022)
Darq is a surreal, monochromatic puzzle-horror game that feels like an interactive Tim Burton film. The story follows Lloyd, a lanky boy trapped in a lucid dream that rapidly spiraling into a nightmare; unable to wake up, he must navigate his crumbling subconscious to survive. Gameplay centers on gravity-defying mechanics where you walk on walls and ceilings to shift the 2.5D environment, solving intricate spatial puzzles that often require “thinking outside the box.” Since Lloyd is defenseless, you must also utilize stealth to evade grotesque, Silent Hill-esque creatures that haunt his mind. On the PS5, the game was generally well-received for its haunting art style and clever physics-based puzzles, though some critics felt the experience was quite brief and noted that the stealth sections and reliance on jump scares were less polished than the core puzzle mechanics.

Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered – Sony Playstation 5 (2024)
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered on the PlayStation 5 brings the gothic epic of Nosgoth to modern hardware with significant quality-of-life enhancements. The story follows Raziel, a vampire lieutenant betrayed and executed by his master, Kain, who is resurrected as a soulful wraith by the Elder God to seek vengeance across time and shifting dimensions. Gameplay retains the classic blend of atmospheric exploration, environmental block puzzles, and “realm-shifting” mechanics, though it is bolstered by a modernized dual-analog control scheme, a new map and compass system, and a toggle that allows players to switch instantly between original and high-definition textures. Critical reception has been generally positive, with reviewers praising the impeccable voice acting and the inclusion of “Lost Levels” (previously cut content), while noting that the core combat remains a bit repetitive and “faithful to a fault” by modern standards.

The Walking Dead: Destinies – Sony Playstation 5 (2023)
The Walking Dead: Destinies is a third-person action-adventure game that allows players to relive and reshape the events of the first four seasons of the hit AMC television series. The story begins with Rick Grimes waking from his coma, but it introduces a “Shatter Fate” mechanic that lets you make pivotal choices—such as deciding who survives the iconic confrontation between Rick and Shane—effectively creating an alternate timeline. Gameplay consists of a mix of stealth, resource management, and combat using a variety of melee and ranged weapons across famous locations like the Greene farm and the prison. Despite the ambitious concept, the game received overwhelmingly negative reviews upon its release; critics and fans alike panned it for its dated graphics, frequent technical bugs, and “brain-dead” AI, with many comparing its quality unfavourably` to titles from two console generations prior.
I already have this game loose on the Nintendo Switch, but it is nice to have a boxed version.
