In 2009, Nintendo later released the Nintendo DSi XL (called Nintendo DSi LL in Japan), with the “XL” standing for “Extra Large.
The Nintendo DSi XL features larger screens, and a greater overall size, than the original DSi. It is the fourth DS model, the first to be available as a pure size variation. It features larger screens with wider view angles, improved battery life, and a greater overall size than the original DSi. While the original DSi was specifically designed for individual use, Nintendo suggested that DSi XL buyers give the console a “steady place on a table in the living room”, so that it might be shared by multiple household members.
