Pac-Panic – Sega Mega Drive (1993)

Pac-Panic (Pac-Attack) is a falling-block puzzle game that adapts the mechanics of Namco’s earlier title, Cosmo Gang the Puzzle, into the Pac-Man universe. While it lacks a complex narrative, the game centres on Pac-Man’s effort to clear the board of pesky ghosts that fall alongside standard blocks. The gameplay requires players to arrange solid blocks into complete horizontal lines to make them disappear, while simultaneously positioning Pac-Man pieces so he can devour the ghosts trapped within the stacks. As Pac-Man eats ghosts, a “Fairy Meter” fills up, eventually summoning a Fairy to clear away large portions of the board. Upon its release, Pac-Attack received a generally positive reception, with critics praising its addictive “easy to learn, hard to master” loop and the clever integration of classic Pac-Man elements into the Tetris-style genre, though some noted that the 16-bit visuals were functional rather than groundbreaking.

Sonic Spinball – Sega Mega Drive (1993)

Sonic Spinball (or Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball) is a unique spin-off developed by Sega Technical Institute that reimagines the series’ high-speed action through the lens of a pinball simulator. The story follows Sonic as he infiltrates Dr. Robotnik’s “Veg-O-Fortress,” a massive mechanical base built atop a volcano to transform animals into robots; Sonic must recover the Chaos Emeralds to destabilize the fortress and prevent total domination. Gameplay centres on Sonic acting as the pinball, navigated via flippers across four expansive, multi-tiered levels filled with bosses, traps, and secret bonus stages. While the physics are distinct from the mainline platformers, players can still exert limited aerial control over Sonic to influence his trajectory. Upon release, the game received a generally positive reception for its inventive concept and impressive “gritty” art style, though some critics pointed out its high difficulty curve and framerate stutters compared to the core Sonic titles.

I already have a loose copy of this game, with this I now have a complete copy. Surprised it took me so long to be honest.
