Little Nightmares II – Nintendo Switch (2021)

Little Nightmares II is a dark, suspenseful puzzle-platformer for the Nintendo Switch that follows the journey of Mono, a young boy wearing a paper bag, and his companion Six (the protagonist of the first game) as they navigate the distorted, horrific landscapes of the Pale City. The story centres on their attempt to reach the mysterious Signal Tower, which emits a mind-controlling transmission that has mutated the world’s inhabitants into grotesque monsters like the Teacher and the Thin Man. Gameplay revolves around environmental puzzles, tense stealth sequences, and light combat, with Mono and an AI-controlled Six working together to bypass traps and escape towering threats. Despite the hardware limitations of the Switch, the game was warmly received for its masterful atmosphere, haunting art direction, and improved mechanics, with critics often noting that while it suffers from minor resolution dips and occasional clunky platforming, it remains one of the most effective horror experiences on the platform.
