So this modded Game Boy Color came into store recently, we don’t normally take in modded items as we cannot offer a warranty on the items if somebody else has been inside and messed around with it. So I kinda had to buy this. I already have a Game Boy Color that I modded myself a few years ago, but another one added to the collection can’t hurt right?
This particular Game Boy is fitted with a IPS screen which provides great brightness, as well as the ability to change the colour scheme of the Game Boy by pressing one of the two touch sensors on the top of the handheld. The Game Boy has had a USB-C port fitted to the bottom so it can be powered using a more modern solution. I’m not sure if it would be able to charge up a set of rechargeable batteries as I haven’t had chance to try that yet. It also has a very cool designed shell featuring like, a gazillion Pokemon.
A little look at a few of the different colour schemes available. The Black & white being my personal favourite.
Being the naturally inquisitive guy that I am, I just had to open this up and have a look at what is on the inside as apparently, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. The mod was done quite well, if it was me I’d have used thicker wire, and the USB port could have been done neater, but I’m just nit-picking.
