Nintendo Wii – Blue Family Edition (2011)

The light blue Nintendo Wii is a specific hardware revision known as the Wii Family Edition (model RVL-101), which was first released in late 2011. Unlike the original white and black models, this version was redesigned to sit horizontally and—most notably—removed all backwards compatibility with GameCube games and accessories, meaning it lacks the top-mounted controller ports and memory card slots. In North America, the blue console was released as a Walmart and Sam’s Club exclusive during the holiday season, often bundled with Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. While its vibrant, matte-finish colour is highly sought after by collectors today, it is functionally identical to other late-cycle Wii revisions, including the built-in Wi-Fi and the updated internal motherboard that reduced power consumption.
