The LCD version of OutRun is a watered-down version of the arcade game OutRun created by Tiger Electronics. Two versions were created – a handheld version, and a large tabletop unit, although the game itself is presumed to be identical.
OutRun is similar to several other LCD games on the market – you simply drive forward and try to avoid traffic. There is both a high and low gear, much like the arcade version.
This handheld did not come with a battery cover, so I purchased a 3D printed one from eBay, while it is certainly noticeable, it is not a bad looking replacement.

Chuck Rock – Sega Master System (1992)
Chuck Rock on the Sega Master System is a prehistoric platformer with a humorous twist. Released in 1982 for the Commodore 64, Visible Solar System wasn’t your typical action-packed game. Instead, it offered a more educational and exploratory experience. There wasn’t a story as such, but you captained a virtual spaceship and explored a simplified model of our solar system. By selecting planets, you could access information screens detailing their properties, moons, and even calculate your weight on their surface. The gameplay revolved around navigating menus and soaking in astronomical facts. While some found it a bit dry, others appreciated its unique approach and the chance to virtually roam the solar system from the comfort of their Commodore.

Jupiter Lander – Commodore 64 (1982)
Released in 1982 for the Commodore 64, Jupiter Lander presented a minimalist yet engaging gameplay experience. Unlike its title might suggest, the game lacked a narrative; instead, it focused on providing a demanding test of piloting expertise. Players assumed control of a spacecraft navigating the formidable gravitational pull of Jupiter (a feat not possible in reality). The core gameplay loop involved maneuvering the craft through a side-scrolling landscape with strategically placed landing platforms. The objective was to achieve a soft touchdown with minimal horizontal and vertical velocity. Critical reception for Jupiter Lander proved to be divided. While some lauded the game’s addictive nature and the thrill of a successful landing, others found it unforgiving and repetitive.
